I love the energy at open mics. All of the performers are quick to support each other. Even if someone’s song choice is not your cup of tea, you still respect what they are bringing to the stage. There are young people and old people. There are people who have been playing for many years and people who just learned their first song. There is no room for competition. In a world obsessed with being the best, everyone at the open mic just wants to share a song. The supportive energy of an open mic is a rare and magical experience.
