I don’t know how the conversation started because I walked in during the middle. My 17-year-old daughter and my 8-year-old daughter were discussing who would be the “cool auntie” when their brother has kids. This sparked a line of conversation where his future wife has some sisters that are way cooler than either of them. Eventually, Hannah won the debate and was crowned the future cool aunt. Then I pointed out that by the time her 8-year-old brother has kids, she will be almost 40. She will be far too tired to be a cool aunt.
“Hey, Pops. When you are a grandparent, what should we call you?
Oh, I know. You will be Gumpy.”
This was a weird conversation in so many ways.
Please God, anything but Gumpy.
