Embarrassed

I will never forget Hannah’s third birthday party. She was dressed like Snow White. Her relatives were beginning to arrive. She was going to elegantly sit down in her little chair at her little table. She missed the chair and ended up on the floor. She was fine. She popped up like a fishing bobber and pretended that it hadn’t happened. Her little tiny three-year-old voice whispered, “I’m so embarrassed.” Embarrassed is a big word for a tiny little girl.

Her little sister just used that same big word. At the twin’s school, they are having a “Someone Special” dance for Valentine’s Day. I am not sure why eight-year-olds need to have a dance but it’s happening. My son has no interest in attending such a ridiculous event but Ellie will be in her glory. We have made arrangements for me to go with her to the “Someone Special” dance.

“This will be good. I am so happy you are going with me. Just one thing… DO NOT EMBARRASS ME.” That is a big word for a tiny little girl.
