I have two overgrown elderberry bushes in my yard. They were loaded this year. My little purple treasures all became ripe at the end of last week. I had some weekend obligations but intended to harvest my crop yesterday afternoon. When I went out to pick the berries, they were all gone. It only took the birds 36 hours to strip the bushes bare. They ate them all.
Coincidentally, my driveway is now purple.
