Bare

It’s almost obscene. It feels like a private moment that I shouldn’t have been watching. They started in full glory and have rather abruptly dropped everything. They are almost completely bare. Ten days ago, they were putting on a magnificent show. I am so fortunate that I was in the right place at the right time to see it all develop. I was subject to their absolute beauty. The midday sun highlighted their colors. Then in a flash, all of the glory burst into flame and everything was washed in a dull brown. This is my absolute favorite color. I don’t have words to describe or identify this color. If you have ever experienced it, then you know the color that I am describing. This phase lasted a day and a half. Then they casually shrugged it all off. What remained was a lot of mostly naked trees. They are proud and unashamed of their frame. Spring will be glorious when the leaves return. But for now, I am enjoying the stark beauty that is on full display by the brazen and unapologetic trees.
