I played my first gig of the year last night. I love playing music for people. When I get home after a show, tired and stinky, I always do some minor data entry to make sure that I stay organized. According to my spreadsheet, I played 23 shows last year. I don’t think there was a regrettable or miserable experience on the list. I sang a lot of weird folk songs and met so many great people. I feel like I should set a goal for 2025. I would love to play 50 shows this year but I am not sure that is a realistic number. I have never been good at realistic goals. That is more than twice the number of weird folk songs and it will be so many more great people. I am not sure how to make this goal of 50 shows a reality. I will need your help. I will be playing in a pub, festival field, or living room near you. Make sure you come out and sing along.
The owner of the pub that I played last night said, “January is always a tough month because everyone has their resolutions but they will be back in February.” I guess we all have unrealistic intentions.
