When I was a kid, we would visit my Grandpap Jack for Christmas. I have a lot of great memories of the holidays spent at his house. There is one memory that may seem silly. There was a television station that aired a James Bond marathon between Christmas and the New Year. You could turn on that giant console television in the living room and it was a guarantee that there would be a good car chase. Every holiday visit included some 007 in the evening. His house was always uncomfortably warm and it was hard to stay awake. I would fall asleep listening to Roger Moore save the world. Now, I make sure to watch at least one James Bond movie every holiday season. This year, I watched A View To a Kill. The bad guys include a young Christopher Walken and the legendary Grace Jones. It’s got horses, hot tubs, conveyor belt fight scenes, and it starts with the legendary ski chase. James Bond isn’t everybody’s flavor of martini but it wouldn’t feel like Christmas for me without some 007.
